KINGSTON, Ont. – Mitchell Porowski and Adam Lloyd scored two goals each to pace the Brampton Battalion to a 7-4 victory over the Kingston Frontenacs in an Ontario Hockey League game Friday night.

Sam Carrick had one goal and one assist and Barclay Goodrow and Brandon Robinson the other goals for the Battalion, which improved its won-lost-extended record to 16-10-4 for 36 points, third in the Central Division. First-year goaltender Keegan Wilson faced 25 shots.

Philip Lane contributed four assists and Cameron Wind and Zach Bell two each as the Troops handed Kingston a fifth straight loss and earned a second win at the K-Rock Centre, after a 4-0 Wilson shutout Oct. 21. The Frontenacs, who prevailed 5-3 at Brampton on Sept. 29, last won in a 4-3 decision Nov. 25 over the visiting Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors.

The Battalion is one point behind the Barrie Colts and Niagara IceDogs, who are tied for first place in the division after wins Friday night. The Colts defeated the host Guelph Storm 8-5, while the IceDogs won 5-3 at Mississauga. The Battalion visits Barrie at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Darcy Greenaway scored two goals for Kingston, with David Mazurek and Tyler J. Brown providing the others. Rookie goaltender Blake Richard made 24 saves as the Frontenacs fell to 7-19-4 for 18 points, fifth in the East Division.

Goodrow, who returned from a one-game absence after taking Carricks broken stick to the torso, gave the Troops a 4-2 lead on the power play at 1:18 of the third period, slipping a backhander through the five-hole, and Mazurek replied at 5:56 on a shot from deep on the left wing that beat Wilson high to the glove side.

Robinson scored his seventh goal of the season and what proved to be his team-leading fifth game-winner 20 seconds later from the right-wing faceoff dot.

Fellow rookie Lloyd struck for his second goal of the game and of the season at 8:57 off an unselfish feed from Lane, who passed up a solid chance to shoot on a two-on-one rush. Lloyd crashed into Richard as the puck entered the net, with the goal immediately signaled. But a long delay ensued as Kingston coach Todd Gill pleaded his case for goaltender interference with referee Jason Goldenberg, all to no avail.

Carrick scored at 9:47, flipping home a bouncing puck in the goalmouth off a pass from Michael Santini, who returned from a separated shoulder suffered Nov. 20, and Brown completed the scoring with the man advantage at 14:35, knocking the disc past Wilson from close range.

Porowski and Lloyd scored second-period goals to give the Battalion a 3-1 lead before Greenaway replied to leave Kingston down 3-2 after 40 minutes.

Porowski scored his seventh goal with the teams skating four a side at 11:18, redirecting Wind’s screened left-point shot behind Richard. Lloyd connected at 15:46, tipping yet another Wind-generated point shot.

Greenaway struck at 18:04, wiring a shot from above the left-wing circle on a rush.

Greenaway opened the scoring on the power play at 2:38 of the first period, after Alex O’Neil drew a major penalty and game misconduct for a check to the head of Spencer Green. O’Neil saw his first action since a 10-game suspension for a head check on Niagaras Frank Schumacher in a 6-4 home-ice win Nov. 11. Green left the game in the seventh minute but did return.

Porowski tied it with the man advantage at 9:10. Porowski was stationed in front of Richard to deflect Spencer Abraham’s left-point shot over the goaltender’s blocker.

Penalty killer Carrick hit the left post on a counterattack at the 16-minute mark before scrapping with Braydon Blight at 18:03. Blight took exception to Carrick dumping Jean Dupuy in front of the Kingston bench, and the two exchanged several heavy blows before Carrick dropped Blight with a right.

The Battalion scratched Marcus McIvor, Patrik Machac, Matt MacLeod and Ian Watters. Kingston scratches were Trevor Morbeck, Derek Froats and Ryan Spooner.

The game at Barrie can be seen live in Brampton on Rogers Cable 10 and in Bolton, Caledon and Orangeville on Rogers Cable 63.
