BRAMPTON, Ont. – The Brampton Battalion is looking for its Ultimate Fan, with the winner potentially receiving a trip for two to the 2012 MasterCard Memorial Cup tournament in Shawinigan, Que.

The Battalion competition in the BMO Ultimate Fan contest is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Shopper’s World branch of the BMO Bank of Montreal, 499 Main Street South.

Fans are invited to show their team spirit by dressing in Battalion colours, sweaters or costumes. The first 100 to register onsite at the BMO branch on the day of the competition will be entered in the contest and have an opportunity to be the Battalion’s Ultimate Fan representative.

The event offers fans the opportunity to meet Battalion players Sam Carrick, Barclay Goodrow, Alex O’Neil, Spencer Abraham and Mitchell Porowski.

A panel of judges, made up of Battalion captain Carrick, Rogers TV play-by-play man Doug Anderson and BMO branch manager Rosemary Smyth, will select three semifinalists, who will be asked trivia questions provided by the hockey club.

The semifinalist who provides the most correct answers will be chosen as the winner. The winner receives a special Battalion sweater and is entered in a draw with the other 11 BMO Ultimate Fan winners within the OHL.

Forty-one Canadian Hockey League teams from the OHL, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey League are participating in the contest, with one fan from each constituent league to win a trip to the 2012 MasterCard Memorial Cup to be hosted by the QMJHLs Shawinigan Cataractes from May 18-27.

The BMO Ultimate Fan contest is being held in celebration of the CHL’s new four-year partnership with the BMO Financial Group, the leagues official bank.

Under the agreement, BMO also will incorporate the BMO Power of Blue program, which provides perqs to customers, including the opportunity to win a preloaded MasterCard, in 46 CHL arenas across Canada.
