John played high school rugby and was a hockey goaltender with the Junior C Stouffvile 70's ... Sam's mother Jane played recreational hockey and was a competitive track and field athlete ... Sam's older brother Jake is a veteran member of the OHL's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds ... younger brother Trevor plays hockey with the Markham Majors AAA minor midgets ... youngest brother Josh is a member of the Toronto Red Wings AAA minor bantams ... cousin Bobby Hughes played four seasons with the OHL's Kingston Frontenacs and is playing in the Carolina Hurricanes system ...
